Profile of the host families

There isn't any standard profile of a host family. However, the families that are interested generally consist of one or several children and both parents, who normally carry out professional activities outside of their homes.

Each family wishing to host an Au Pair is systematically submitted to an interview.
During the interview, we inform the family of the nature of our exchange program as well as the advantages of living this experience as a real opportunity for cultural exchange.

The purpose of these interviews is to evaluate and select the most suitable family for the au pair, so that each girl is hosted in the best conditions possible.

The average week with an Au Pair in your home

The contracts proposed by Mag’ au pair consist of 30 working hours a week, 5 hours of work each day throughout 6 days. The Au pair may have to baby-sit for 2 nights (whichever days the family needs) but these will not coincide with her days off.

What will the girl be doing ?

Mainly the girl will be looking after the children: waking them up, washing them, dressing them, taking them to and from school, organising activities with them, teaching them her language, helping them with their homework, etc…

However, the Au pair will help with domestic chores, such as ironing, setting the table, cooking, etc.

Upon the Au pair’s arrival, it is advisable that the Au pair makes a timetable in order to distribute the hours of work, which will cover the family needs and include the number of hours devoted to the extra professional activities of the Au Pair.

The Au Pair will enjoy a minimum of one whole day off each week. At least one of these days off each month must be a Sunday, and they will also be able to attend language lessons, sports and other types of activities.

In exchange for her collaboration, the family will provide the Au pair with full-board accommodation and approximately 50 € pocket money per week (200 € a month). The amount will be agreed on directly between the family and the Au Pair before her arrival.

The duration of the stay will depend on each party’s wishes. Therefore, we will select the family that matches the Au pair, and we will give importance to this in our selection process.
